Another 8+ Months Gone By!

NOTE:  The formatting on this looked good when I made the draft and then awful when I posted it... ah well.  You can still read the text even if it's messy!

Well, my entire pregnancy with Baby Hernberg #2 has passed without a blog post!  I'm wrapping up loose ends before the baby arrives and one included posting some recent photos of Emma.  I won't even try to post photos covering the past 8 mos., just the more recent ones.

As for the pregnancy, the baby's gender remains a surprise, and the baby is due June 1st, our 5 year wedding anniversary!  The pregnancy has gone by blessedly easily and Emma is beyond excited to have a new baby brother or sister.

Emma is now chattering up a storm from morning til night and loves to narrate all that is going on around her.  She speaks full sentences and is full of sweetness.  She is only 25% for weight and 50% for height, so she is our teeny tiny little string bean and so cute we can hardly handle it.  She is also all girl, in love with makeup, jewelry and her baby doll which goes with us everywhere.

Nana Anne made this adorable cake for Emma's TN bday party.  We intended to only stay a few days but Emma and I ended up staying nearly 2 weeks, so in the end as various family members cycled through, we celebrated her birthday 3 times!

Celebration #1 in Tennessee.  It was also Grammy's (my maternal grandmother) 86th birthday, so Emma and Grammy had a shared celebration.

Emma surveying the copious quantities of birthday loot.

Bedecked with new backpack, Mardi Gras beads (still her favorite toy and the best $1 my mom has ever spent), and new stroller with baby doll.
With Grammy and Dada.

On the slide behind Nana Anne's house... Nana has more toys and gear for the kids to play on than Amy's and my house combined!

On a little rocker at Nana Anne's in her adorable peacoat from Uncle Peter and Aunt Katherine.

With Aunt Kiki and Cousin Matthew on another toy at Nana's.
Cousin Matthew also had a 3rd birthday celebration!

Emma had a manicure party with her aunts.  Cousin Matthew wanted to participate and had his nails painted with clear polish.  ;)

Above left, Emma and Matthew found Grampy's walker to be a great riding toy.

Emma loves to take photos and actually took this one of Matthew!  She and Matthew have a blast together.

On Emma's actual birthday, all the family had left town so Nana Anne and Mama took her to a bouncy house place.  Here she is sliding down into one of the toddler climbing things.

Emma loves to play with stethoscopes and blood pressure cuffs.  Here she has gotten a hold of Papa Tim's.  She is on important business.

She also loves hats and her toy kitchen and food.

Girly girl loving her "beauty box".

Emma also loves "babies".  Here she is with friend, Addie.
We had a 2nd birthday party for Emma on what turned out to be a rainy day, so the venue moved from the park to our house.  We had 42 people, 19 of which were kids!  I expected pandemonium but it turned out to be really great and people stayed the entire time, rather than cycling through like I expected in such small quarters.

Emma's birthday party spread.  The cupcakes were meant to be carousels.  We have a free carousel very near our house that children are allowed to ride as many times as they want.  Emma is obsessed!

I know I'm her mother, but isn't she beautiful?
On April 22, I had my baby shower, hosted by Alexis who also hosted the baby shower when I was pregnant with Emma.  She was joined this time by Beth, Megan, Lisa and Jaimee (held at Jaimee's) and the theme was "Cute as a Button".  It was a beautiful shower and I'm blessed with such wonderful friends!

The food at my amazing baby shower.  Note the buttons on the cake and the button shaped peanut butter cookies.

Beautiful hostesses, Megan and Alexis.

More beautiful hostesses, Lisa, Beth and Jaimee.
New friends!  Both are Sally Clarkson fans, too, and are presently or plan to homeschool.  Heather on the left (whose husband introduced Dan to his new-found love of cigars) and Amy on the right (who has since joined our small group and whose daughter, Abby, is Emma's new best friend).

Baby shower game and baby shower guests.

Girly girl showing Daddy his hair in a little mirror after she combed it for him.

Daddy is a patient subject for hairdressing practice.
At the end of March, we visited dear relatives Marilyn and Norm McLennan in Fountain Hills, AZ.  Here Emma is collecting pebbles with Marilyn.

Emma is a water girl and hardly got out of Norm and Marilyn's pool!

She loves her sunglasses.
Hard at work coloring with Norm.

For several weeks in April, we had the joy of Dan's sister, Katherine, staying with us, punctuated by side trips to visit other family.  Uncle Peter decided to come visit while Katherine was here and celebrated Easter and Dan's 27th birthday with us.  Below Emma is loving reading time with Aunt Katie.  She was very sad to see her leave (as was Mommy, who may have shamelessly exploited Katie for childcare!)!

Dan with the AWESOME homemade carrot cake Peter made.

On Easter.  Too bad you can't see Emma's adorable dress from Papa Tim and Nana Anne!  :(  Emma even kept her barrette in the entire morning, which was a first.

The sibs showing birth order, not gang signs.
Emma helping Daddy assemble the nursing glider.  We have a similar photo from last pregnancy of Dan assembling the stroller.
Emma feeding Baby Logan cottage cheese.  She also force hydrated him throughout the afternoon.  :)  Notice her race track on the wall behind.  She loves racing her hot wheels on it.  Awesome hand-me-down toy!
Dan's aunt, Karin, aka Auntie Bear, was in town for a work meeting and paid us a wonderful visit!

Emma got a hold of my eyeliner and tried her hand at applying it.  Thankfully, she didn't lose an eye before I discovered her but only tried out the latest Cirque du Soleil eye makeup fashion.

Hiking with Daddy and Mommy.

A sick little Emma (she had a 103 degree fever for three days) still helped Mommy fold laundry and wanted to put on Daddy's shirt.
