Emma One Day Old- So Teeny Tiny!
Emma is now seven weeks and 3 days old. We'll weigh her again at the midwife's this afternoon, but she's got to be several ounces over 9 lbs. now. I looked back at photos from when she was born. That's Emma at 1 day above. Can you believe how tiny she was? Look at that little chin. What a precious baby. She's so big already, that I'm really starting to realize how we need more babies, Lord willing. And lots. :) Dan puts up a vote for all girls, or mostly girls anyway.
For the weekend of Dan's birthday, we had the delight of a visit from Norm and Marilyn McLennan. They are always wonderful company, and we enjoyed Emma's very first real outing (not to the store or doctor's) to San Juan Capistrano. She obligingly slept right through lunch. The next night, we went out to dinner as well, and she again obligingly decided to eat between ordering and the food arriving. What an accommodating little girl! :)
On Easter, Emma went to church for the first time, and we went again this past week. Mommy and Emma wound up both times listening to the sermon from the nursing room, but that's ok. Then Mommy could let Emma squirm and smile and coo all she wanted, and of course Mama eats it up.
Emma can still be quite vocal in her sleep, though less so now. But we've posted a great video of her sleep noises below as Marilyn held her. Sorry I couldn't figure out how to rotate the video! Her very endearing new talent is now giggling to herself as she falls asleep, though we don't have that on film. Take our word for it.

While a few weeks ago, a fleeting smile was a big treat for Mommy and Daddy, Emma now smiles, coos and giggles quite often. Unfortunately for others, Emma mostly does this during or after nursing, so Mommy gets to see her best moments. She loves the Itsy Bitsy Spider crawling up her, as well as Skidamarinkidinkdink (or however it's spelled). Mommy tries to capture her smiles in response to the songs on film, but Emma is very aware of the camera and focuses more on it than the song. However, we've managed to capture some of her delight, but I'll have to post that video later or I'm going to be late to the midwife's!
